"Red Arrows, you are cleared for Takeoff!"

The Red Arrows Virtual Display Team were formed in early 2006. They originally flew with four aircraft and four pilots. The team took a break from flying and later reformed in mid June 2006. However upon reforming it was then decided that for operation availability purposes and lag that the team would cut down to just two pilots.

The real life Red Arrows fly with nine pilots, and within the team Reds 6 & 7 form the Syncro Pair. Our Virtual team decided it would be fitting to form the Syncro Pair from the real Reds. The actual display itself reflects manoeuvres performed by the Syncro Pair as well as a few ones created by the Virtual team.

Obviously to get nine aircraft in a close formation in YSFlight is wishful thinking and may be something to happen in the distance future but for now the Virtual Red Arrows will be flying two aircraft.

The display routine they currently fly is a dynamic and fast flowing programme, which involves close formation aerobatics such as loops and rolls. The two aircraft also split away from each other at various points in the display and perform close opposition passes as well as their challenging formation landing.
